The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is pleased to announce that registration for the eighth session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2025) is now open. 

GP2025 will take place in a hybrid format and will be organized by the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) from 2 to 6 June 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, hosted by the Government of Switzerland. The event will be co-chaired by The Government of Switzerland and UNDRR.

Once you have registered online (via the Indico system), you will receive an email notification that your registration is pending approval. Participants are encouraged to register as early as possible, as registrations will be reviewed by the GP2025 Secretariat, which can take up to 4 to 6 weeks. Once approved, you will receive an email notification that you can attach to your visa application to assist with the process.

Participants attending GP2025 should ensure that all visa requirements are met prior to arrival in Switzerland. Depending on nationality, a visa may be required to enter the country. A detailed note about visas for Switzerland is available at www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home/themen/einreise.html. It is strongly recommended to apply for a visa as early as possible (up to six months in advance).

GP2025 Field Visits 

Experience firsthand how Switzerland is tackling disaster risks and climate challenges through immersive field visits. The Government of Switzerland will host four excursions, offering participants the chance to engage with global experts and representatives from Swiss government agencies, local authorities, academia, and community organizations leading transformative initiatives.

These visits will take place in the Cantons of Geneva and Vaud on Saturday, 7 June 2025. Transportation will depart from the International Conference Center Geneva (CICG) at 8:30 and return to Geneva (CICG or the Geneva airport) by 17:00.

About GP2025

The main theme of GP2025 is “Everyday Counts, Act for Resilience Today”. The GP2025 is organized and convened by UNDRR and will take place from 2 – 6 June 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. Field Trips will be organized by the Swiss Government and will take place on 7 June 2025. More information will be available in the coming weeks. The GP2025 is an inclusive event, with possibilities for broad and diverse participation.
